WP Premium 3-tabbed Templates

WP Premium template comes in red, black and brown themes. This is a popular template because with its multi-level CSS menus and a tabber portion, it is ideal for bloggers with multiple contents to organize. A couple of weeks ago we introduced a modification by replacing the original LinkList menu with multi-level CSS menu. In this edition, we added one additional tab for your blog archive. This blog uses the WP Premium red version. You rarely see multi-tabbed

Blogger templates,
so here they are.

@KRH
You must create your own Adsense for Search account. Open your blog template in HTML view, click the Expand Widget Template checkbox, then edit the codes in the "searchform" class. Specifically, you need to replace 'drandyvgimpaya.blogspot.com' with your own blog url, 'AVG' with your own blog name, and, optionally, my pub ID with your own. Use the Find command of your browser to look for 'Topics/Categories' and replace it with 'Categories.'

Yes, I saw your blog. Indeed there are links and HTML that you have to edit manually. For example, my template implements a CSS multi-level menu instead of the original LinkList menu. To customize the multi-level menu, you have to edit the HTML between ul class='menu2' and /ul. Delete the menu items that you do not need, and edit the http links and descriptions. You must really have basic knowledge of the structure of HTML unordered lists. Your other concerns pertain to the CSS of the template.

To change the black text in the comment bubble and author link to red, look for this in the body wrapper code:

a:link {
color: #000;

Change #000 to #b30000.
You might also like to change your thumbnails. To do this, you still have to edit the HTML codes and replace ThumbOblationBig.jpg,ThumbReunion.jpg, Thumbmayon2.jpg with your own graphic.

You concern about the header is not very clear to me. Please explain further.

andygimpaya,

i backed to my previous template coz it would be better for me to customize.

i just want to my archive to include on tab..search & categories beside.

and also want to add a page element at the bottom.

ur template confusing me a lot coz i know html..css little bit..still learning. after learning this i would back to urs template.

so right now if u tell me how to do above two question it would be highly appreciate.

To add a new tab study closely the following codes in the template:
1) codes between div class='tabbertab' and Tabber end
2) Codes right below /*tabs on the page */

You also have to drag a widget just below the ADS widget(the portion with thumbnails)

Yes, Steve. I saw your forte template and you can use my CSS multi-level menu.
You may download this text file and follow the instructions. Tell me later if it works.

Hello, AVG.
Thank you for a really great template, but...
Got a problem with Adsense bloc (the big one under the post) the question is: How do I switch it to MY Publish ID? As much as I understand it is on your ID now. figured it out with 2 Adsense blocks, but the big one... Just can't find were do I switch:).

andygimpaya said...

Doctor G,
Try this:
Open your blog in Layout view. Click the Edit link in the right bottom portion of Blog Posts rectangle. In the Configure Blog Posts dialog,uncheck the check box that says Show Ads Between Posts. Click Save then logout from Blogger.

Logon again to Blogger using your Adsense account. You may then put the check back to show ads betwenn posts. Blogger shall automatically recognize your pub ID.

Problem Solved. Thanks! Taht' exactly the template I needed for the new project!

I love this template. I am currently using the simpler version on which this is based but would love to switch.

My problem is with the space between the multilevel menu and the post. It appears that the rounded corners and post area images are being duplicated there and it really distracts from the look of the blog.

I thought mabye it was just my browser but it looks that way in your pictures as well. Is there a quick fix for this?

If not I will continue with my current template. I would be interested to know what code needs to be added in order to add the Archive tab in the sidebar, however.

andygimpaya said...

@uphillelm
The adsense ads in between posts indeed have the tendency to linger even if you already unchecked this option. I already brought this up at AdSense forum, but no reply from Google as yet. Meantime better use this feature by keeping it checked then look for the link that says "Switch to a different publisher ID" then follow the instructions to link the ads to your pub ID.

Are the sidebar tabs based on this script? It looks like it.

http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/tabber/

I've tried fiddling with the script in your template to paste a third tab into my current template and add your awesome radio buttons in the search box with no luck.

Can you tell me what needs to be copied over? I copied everything in the "div class=tabber" which appears to hold the tabber html as well as the categories and archive widgets. Is there more that needs to be added in the javascript? I couldn't tell if anything was needed in the style to add a tab or not.

andygimpaya said...

@Jens Hegg
You did not specify whether you are pasting the tabber code into a different XML template or to the original WP Premium template. If you are trying to extract the tabbed portion only, be sure to include the declarations that follows "/*Tabber Style start___*/" as well as function tabberObj. The code for the search box with radio buttons is provided by Google AdSense.

Regarding the space below the CSS menu: An additional graphic, container-bg_red.gif, is inserted there to give the post area a layered look. In your HTML, look for ".container-top" and make your changes from there. You can remove the whole container block or just remove the link to the graphic, then adjust the height of the top container (currently set at 17px).

Jens Hegg said...

Thanks for the info. I was going to paste it into the original template, but now that I can get rid of the layered look I will just use your template and modify it.

Thanks for the excellent template! It is easily the best template I've seen for organization options and looks great as well.

I to would like to take the AdSense stuff out. I've looked all through the code and found this tag that seems to be in the right spot at the end of the post "data:adStart/". If I delete the code contained in it though it removes the entire post except the atom feed.

Any word from Google about how to get rid of these or any tips as to how to proceed. I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of them.

I'm not currently an AdSense member so the box to exclude/include the ads is greyed out for me.

Jens Hegg said...

I figured out the adsense thing and thought others might want to know. I think it is code accidentally left in by AVGTECH that needs to be removed or warned about.

I will tell you what I found and then how to delete the ads.

A large block of Google ads shows up under the current post on my test blog template in blue letters and I didn't want it there. I signed up for Adsense in order to activate the "Show ads between posts" dialog in post layouts, hoping to be abel to check/uncheck it to remove teh block of ads. Didn't work.

I also searched out and changed the Pub ID in the google search section of the template to my own adsense Pub Id. This had no effect.

I then toyed around with adding ads between posts and realized that the ad block is not an "ads between posts" thing. I can add my own adsense links along side it. Due to the style formatting the ads actually seem to appear above the posts. So, I knew this code was something other than the standard AdSense code.

I searched through the code and found this bit of code in the Blog1widget near the footer.

script charset='utf-8' expr:src='"http://feeds.feedburner.com/~s/UpIbalonBicol?i=" + data:post.url' type='text/javascript'/

Delete it and the adblock dissapears.

Andygimpaya - Please take this out of the download code. I'm sure it was a mistake that was left in from a blog you put the template in and forgot to remove.

@Jens Hegg
Your solution indeed works! Thanks for your efforts. I would not even think that a Feedburner tracking code could have such an effect on AdSense ads. They were there to keep track of site visits. Really unthinkable. What you found out should be for the books. It could be the solution for similar problems in other blogger templates as well, not just this one. You should post your finding to AdSense forum and to your blog. The Google people may not even be aware of it. Again big thanks.

Hello there, I appreciate the work you put in improving the template somebody else made.

BUT I do not see why you didn't even put a link to the original creator's site at the bottom of the template. Instead, you have profusely put your own petty link everywhere. What's the object of this. what are you trying to achieve.

Also, you have used your adsense code within the widget prfusely, added so many of your links and done all sort of tweaks to earn more money from distribution of these templates. Please check out my blog cutewriting in which I used the template, I have redesigned similar to your little tweak but I have given original creator the credit of the link

I wont give your site any link however, and will open to my readers why this is wrong]

TP: I am not your blog's reader, so if you post any reply here I will not know.
